I work with children and adolescents (along with their parents/caregivers), as well as with college students and young adults. With all clients, but especially with children and teens, I believe it is important to maintain an awareness of and sensitivity to the multiple systems in which my clients exist including their communities, schools, social networks, and families. My approach to therapy is often described as strengths-based – focusing on the many positive, and unique, characteristics and coping skills that my clients bring into our therapy sessions. I use elements and techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities (including cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and motivational interviewing) in order to tailor treatment to meet the needs and goals of each client.
Clients describe me as supportive and empathic, with a sense of humor. I create solid relationships which then allow me to challenge and push my clients to meet their goals and grow beyond them. I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is foundational to all growth and change. In therapy I come across as dynamic, warm and collaborative. I enjoy my job because I am constantly learning from my clients and our work together. No two days (or clients) are ever the same!
When I’m not in the office I enjoy spending time with family, friends, and my two dogs. I love exploring Atlanta's restaurant scene, as well as experimenting in my own kitchen!
