I believe that clients have the inherent potential for growth within a therapeutic relational context. I am especially passionate about working with survivors of childhood abuse and sexual trauma and those who struggle with suicidal thoughts and behavior. I work best with clients who are insightful, invested in the process of therapy, and motivated for healing and recovery. It is deeply meaningful to bear witness to my client’s pain and suffering and foster a safe therapeutic environment for them to heal. My personal style is relational and dynamic, and I take a collaborative approach to help clients identify therapeutic goals and develop individualized treatment plans.
My approach to therapy is humanistic in nature and integrative in practice. This means that I work to build strong, safe, and trusting relationships with my clients and rely on evidence-based interventions from diverse theoretical orientations, especially trauma-informed, interpersonal, emotion-focused, and dialectical behavior therapy. I also emphasize common factors in therapy (e.g., identifying goals, gaining insight, making meaning) to help my clients create the changes they desire. I’m often described by clients as supportive, empathic, compassionate, and genuinely invested.
I find it deeply rewarding and fulfilling to help my clients, not only to cope with and survive emotional, relational, behavioral and other challenges, but also to thrive. When not working I like to spend quality time with family and friends, including my husband, our two little girls, and our dogs.
