Clients describe me as patient, flexible, and funny and have often commented on feeling “seen” and “understood” in our sessions. I work best with people who are genuinely interested in growing and being curious about themselves. I believe that change can only come when someone is ready for it; however, wanting to change and being ready to change can be two different things. This conflict with change is one that I often observe with my clients, and I’ve noticed we’re able to work through it when clients come to therapy with this interest in personal growth and curiosity about themselves.
Therapy is challenging and can, at times, be uncomfortable. Being present with one’s emotions can be extremely difficult and painful yet also healing, rewarding, and driving change. I enjoy my job because accompanying someone through these times, as simple as it may seem, is extremely gratifying and fulfilling.
In therapy, I like to follow wherever my clients want to take me. I see therapy as a space that clients should use however they want and need. Therapy is not something “done” to a client, but a healing process that occurs through the therapeutic relationship. I believe it is normal to have different emotions towards therapy and the therapist throughout treatment. When clients feel able to share these emotions with me, we are able to gain a better understanding of how their mind works and deepen our relationship.
When I’m not working, I’m spending quality time with my partner, puppy, and family. I like watching TV shows and movies, enjoy reading before bed, and will always be up for playing any board game. Being new to Atlanta, I enjoy going out to eat and exploring activities that the city has to offer.
